This section provides an overview of each strategic objective and the initiatives identified to implement each strategic objective. The data collected during the comprehensive needs assessment process forms the basis for your company`s board and employees to develop a strategic plan. A strategic plan provides guidance on how to fulfill the organization`s mission with maximum efficiency and impact. Strategy 1: Improve the accessibility of the justice system While access to justice is not limited to legal aid, the ministry recognizes the critical difference that access to legal aid can make when it comes to helping people understand and make decisions about legal issues. Indeed, access to legal aid is directly linked to better outcomes in judicial proceedings. Although criminal counsel is a constitutional right, public defenders handle a very large number of cases that may compromise their ability to provide quality and timely representation. The Division will reaffirm its commitment to supporting the highest standards of criminal defence, including through training, legal assistance and the exchange of best practices with State, local, tribal and territorial colleagues. We will also work to support public advocacy and ensure that defence counsel have a voice in government commissions, committees, task forces, and in legislative and policy decisions. By developing a strategic plan, your business can: We believe in empowering people to solve problems. We believe there is a deep value in serving people directly. Every year, thousands of Arkansans find themselves in the judicial vacuum: they struggle with legal problems without the help of a lawyer because private lawyers are not affordable and free legal aid is not available due to high demand and lack of available resources. The legal gap is widening, but legal aid does not have the resources to bridge it. This lack of resources means that legal aid must use the resources at its disposal prudently and diligently. The Legal Support Centre strives to empower members of our community to manage and resolve legal challenges, ensure access to justice, and thereby improve the stability and prosperity of individuals, families and communities. The nation needs greater and more focused leadership to meet the civilian needs of the poor.

As the largest provider of civil law services in the United States, LSC works with 132 legal advisory organizations to serve every state and territory. LSC has the opportunity and obligation to expand its leadership role to be a leading voice in raising awareness of the need for civil justice services and ensuring access to civil justice for the poor. The Legal Support Centre exists to advance the goal of access to justice for all by serving as a central resource for all those in need of legal assistance. After serving as a personal service and peer support centre for 15 years, LAC is now looking to define and create the Next Generation Legal Resource Centre, a unique source to meet the current and future legal needs of our community.
