More than a performance-based program, THP is designed to help you explore all aspects of theatre in a program that prepares you for professional theatre training or employment, internships in professional theatre, graduate school, or other careers requiring critical and creative thinking. Internships and study abroad are highly recommended. Courses in other disciplines (outside of the major) may count towards the requirements of the major if approved in advance by the department head. For those selected for a second round, the audition will take place on February 20. There are no second-round auditions for spring candidates. Only exceptionally talented actors who can demonstrate talent, creativity and commitment are admitted. The callbacks occur in person on campus and at New York City Unified Auditions. Please note that this is the first time we have accepted walk-in auditions at the New York Unified Auditions. Once scheduled, audition times are considered final and can rarely be postponed. this is done on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Conservatory. In most cases, students must obtain formal approval of their senior project proposal before the end of the junior seminar. Acceptance of proposals is not automatic – it depends on the proper preparation and execution of the required courses, as well as the availability and expertise of the faculty. Students may be asked to submit an alternative proposal or take additional courses before continuing. The number of students pursuing a particular type of senior project may be limited, subject to approval by the Faculty of Theatre and Performance.
